Trento and Modena, the continuing challenge continues. From Saturday, March 9th the two eternal rivals will face again a series of playoffs, which this time will present the best of the A22 derby in the semifinals in five games as they did in 2011. The comparison between the two companies, which last year gave the championship, will be staged for the seventh time ever in the post-season stage, the third consecutive considering also the one competed in the 2013/14 season in the quarterfinals and won 2-0 by Emilia.
The first head to head was about the debut in playoffs championship of Trentino Volley: 2002/03 season with Modena who managed to impose itself only 3-2 in the fifth game after being 2-0 ahead even; subsequently the two companies faced each other again in the quarters of 2006 (2-1 closed series for Trento, which qualified for the first time in its history to the semi-finals), 2008 (victory of Trento in two matches) and then in the semifinals in 2011 (closed series at 3-2 in favor of Trentino Volley).
The Emilian team is, among other things, the opponent that Trentino Volley has faced the greatest number of times in competitive matches in its history: in 652 races played since here in its history, 58 have gone to the scene just against the canaries, challenged 32 times in the regular season, fourth in the Italian Cup, 1 in Italian Super Cup, as well as in 21 cases just in the playoffs.
For Modena this is the 32th participation in playoffs Championship; no other club can boast a number of such high attendance. Did not participate in the final phase of the championship only in three occasions: 2003/04 (tenth place in the regular season), 2004/05 (eleventh place in regular season) and in the 2008/09 season, classified in tenth position at the end of the regular season. The first time was in the 1981/82 season (the first edition of the playoffs), eliminated in Semifinal by Parma for quotient set (1-1 in the series). It has already played thirteen Final Championship (5 consecutive ones), winning 7 of them (1985/86, 1986/87, 1987/88, 1988/89, 1994/95, 1996/97, 2001/02).
